FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions:

The only out of pocket expense is the credit that you must register for with Weber State. This amount is usually $70 for 6 continuing education credits–which is a steal!

Yes you are required. We have found that teachers who have “teeth” in the game, or at least some requirements, complete their course work and are better prepared to have the experience that is intended.

No. The Driven2Teach experience is designed for networking and learning to work with others as well as bond with others in the same profession. When family members are there, it detracts from the intended outcomes.

There must be 3 years in between field studies. For example, If you applied in 2023 and traveled in 2024, you would have to wait to apply again in 2027 for travel in 2028.

Absolutely!  We encourage teams to apply, however each person must individually fill out an application to invest in the program and understand the commitment. There is a question on the application specifically for teams.

We would like participants to fly out together with the group so there is little room for missing any connections.  As far as the return flight, should you decide to change your travel plans, you are responsible for purchasing a separate return flight and must fly out AFTER the group has left, not before.  Flights are purchased as group tickets and cannot be changed.

Applications are usually open October 1st-December 1st. Applicants will be notified by December 15th whether or not they were accepted into the program for the following summer.

Yes. Typically we are looking for those who teach 5th grade, 8th grade or High School US History to attend Driven2Teach. We are looking to expand to Utah Studies ( 4th grade and 7th grade), but we are looking for teachers who are currently teaching history in the classroom.
